Review: Little Divas Designs

There are several activities related to giving birth that parents get excited about: planning the nursery, completing a registry, picking names, doing birth announcements. And dare I say it, but these activities are particularly savory for we Type A’s who like to have our hands in just about everything.

When we were deciding on what to do about birth announcements, I knew I wanted something more polished than was offered at my local drugstore, and I wanted more creative license than was available at several of the free online photo sites.

I knew I wanted to use my own photos, wanted to participate in every detail of the design, and wanted something professional. I also knew I didn’t have the software, materials, or expertise to put it all together for printing. And this is why I selected Little Divas Designs.

Little Divas Designs is owned and run by a mom of two little divas with a substantial portfolio of design options for birth announcements, invitations, and cards. You can select one of her designs, or work together to design one of your very own. Her pricing averages $1.25/card (50-69 cards) and that includes as much or as little design lead from her, unlimited customization, and unlimited proofs/edits. A Type A’s dream!

It shouldn’t be a surprise that I had a mock-up of a birth announcement weeks before Mateo and Harper were even born. I even asked her to pop in some stock photos so I could better visualize how the text and fonts would blend together. We must have gone through five or six iterations and then three or four proofs after that. She tolerated my “ok, reduce the border by 20% and then by 40% but send me a proofs for each one with the border as white and the border as pink and blue”. In the end, we were quite pleased.

So much so, that when it came time for their Baptism, I went back to Little Divas Designs. I was able to pull the base colors and text styles and carry them over the into the Baptism invitation. Sure, continuity of details may have gone unnoticed to the recipients, but for me, it was a reflection of the love and attention we had for Mateo and Harper, carried out into the mailboxes of our loved ones (and is also featured on her website here.)

Little Divas Designs is responsive and timely, and these two qualities cannot be underappreciated. Sure she lives and works in an area suburb, but after working with her, I’d work with her from anywhere in the country. Her goal is to design the “perfect, one of a kind card for you!” and she’ll give you exactly that. So as you consider your invitations and announcements and holiday cards, think Little Divas Designs.

Great stationary, I can't wait to do stuff like this. Needed to comment again on what a great job you did growing those babies. 7.2 & 5.14, it's just so perfect.

Love beyond measure - that's pretty good. The little guy told me he loves his daddy "to the moon and back, and to the moon and back, and to moon and back, and again, and again, and again!"

He won't be happy to have been one-upped.

@Jeff, "love beyond measure" wasn't our own thinking. It was actually something I had seen on one of Little Divas Designs works. Looking back now, though, I can only say that we had NO idea how much Love we'd have for them, and the measure of it just keeps extending. How beautiful that your boy tells you the distance of his love for you.
