Sounds Like Duck

Toddlers are easily distracted. For example, just this morning, I finish changing Harper's diaper, wrap it up, hand it to her and ask her to take it to the trashcan. A MERE THREE FEET AWAY. In the two minutes it took her to get there, she "uh-oh!"'d her loose sock, dropped her kitty stuffed animal, picked it back up, dropped her woobie, "uh-oh!"'d that, asked where the Desitin was, took her woobie back to the bed, dropped the diaper, "eewwwwww"'d that, picked it up, asked for Mateo, then finally dropped the dirty diaper in the Diaper Champ.

So you can imagine how long it might take to get up or down the stairs, holding hands, showing them how to put the other hand against the wall to help balance themselves, you know, what with the toys in one hand, or the clothes, or the sibling still upstairs, or the AIR PARTICLES! diverting their attention.

One day, I heard Jennifer saying "FOCUS!" and I'm all thinking is she forcing him to read the Norton Anthology Reader?, when I turn the corner to find Jennifer is eight steps down the stairs with Mateo, the stairs they began heading down about five minutes before. So, yeah, we say "focus" a lot to get their attention back on task. Of course, when it comes out of Harper's mouth, it doesn't quite sound the same.

More backstory on this on a post I wrote for "How Do You Do It? - Mother's of Multiples Tell It Like It Is".

Very funny. Does your mom think you're teaching them bad words? Such a cute video.
